68hc8 processor

Hi all,

I need a low cost, low speed 8bit microcontroller with analog comparaor and DAC builtin for a low cost application. Can anybody suggest a uC.

Thanks in advance
Itp

Some MCS51 MCU has analog comparaor & PWM( DAC can be easily implemented with PWM).

MCS51, 80C51, is a good selection for controlling. However, as I know, MCUs do not have built-in DAC.

Low Cost Microcontroller

Hi brother!
If interested for microcontroller with some features, see more about 68HC8 family specialy:
MC68HC908QY4
This is a Low Power 8bit microcontroler with various peripherals modules and ease programming and good development tool(Code Warrior by Metrowerks)...

ITP,

Check the Microchip's PIC16C781/782. May be it suits your needs.

Maybe PIC12FXX family flash, A/D ...

Regards!

A very cheap solution is Microchip 16F628 (4 Comperators, PWM ...)

best regards

dac

afaik only mcu which has built in dac is analog ADuC8xx

Hello EltonJohn!

Wich part exacly you can get for 0.50$ and in what quantity?

Regards!

PIC16C781/782 have 2 analog comparators and 8-bit DAC.

You can use a PWM output(s) of microcontrollers as DAC. Of course it won't be rail to rail but for relatively simple applications thats enough. All you need a resistor , a capacitor and a transistor (as buffer).

If you have volume and need sub 1€ controller you can take a look at NEC 9104 , ST 324 , Motorola Nitron and Microchip PIC16F?? . All have ADC PWM. Some of them flash some of them mask ...

Holtek www.holtek.com make some microcontrolles with ADC and very nice PWM (8 bit PWM used as 6+2 to improve switching frequency achieving better filtering solution).
You can look at the HT46R47 , 18pin, 2K rom, 4 analog input at 9bit resolution, 2 PWM 6+2 bit, and very low cost (0.70 EUR).

Microchip MCU in PIC16

I have attached some microprocessor report. Basically, they are separated between 8,16 & 32 bits processor.

Pretty informative. Do take a look.

Thanks

The MSP 430 family is a really good choice.

Hi,
I have just started using MSP430 with IAR C Compiler.

In my opinion, no words to MCU but for IAR, it is an awful compiler.

CCS for PIC has so many ready routines, so you do not have to learn all the internal registers.

IAR for MSP does not include any routines. So you have to deeply study all the registers and initialize them without making a "bit" mistake.

It takes a long period to start developing code quickly in IAR. (i.e. Until you supply all your initialization functions)

I think IAR C Compiler is a "C synthaxed assembler".

I wonder which compiler does other guys use to develop code in MSP.

Best regards,

Hello,
The POC16F629 and 630 are fine for this use. These device include internal oscillator. You can use the PicKIt1 to program and to devellop it.
For the PiCkit1, search on the forum.

CD:)

Cygnal C8051F302 maybe the one you want.
