HI THERE, I NEED TO KNOW THAT I WANT TO SAVE MY VALUES FROM MICROCONTROLLER AT89C51, THROUGH PARREL PORT, AND WHEN THE MICROCONTROLLER IS TURNED OFF THE VALUES SHOULD BE SAVED ON THAT CHIP AND WHEN THE POWERED IS TURNED ON THE SAME VALUES CAN BE FETCHED AGAIN FROM THAT CHIP.. I NEED TO KNOW WHICH IC SHOULD I USE.MODEL NO. etc..LIKE NVRAM.
I NEED A VERY SMALL MEMORY LIKE TO STORE A ANY 5 DIGIT NUMBER...THANKS..

I think that it is better to change ur micro instead of choosing EEPROM.use micros which has eeprom and flash memory and also ram like avr micros.I think atmega8 is very good for start.
 

Use Atmel/philips 24C04 I2C based EEPROM and interface it with your micro by writing a siple routine to make two pins of your micro work as I2C
