I'm simply trying to measure my resistors with a digital YFE YF-3503
but it doesn't seem to be working correctly, I'm not too sure if i am using it right.
If anyone can help me out, that would be great,
Also to start up, the resistor colours are barely readable on them which makes it very difficult to recognise their resistance.

Re: multimeter help

here is pic of ur multimeter:
**broken link removed**

as u see, u must point the switch to one of the blue digits,
then measure, if it doesnt show correct result, switch to next blue limit upper, and so on. that is the limit of resistances. u must set limit correctly before measuring.

have fun

Added after 2 minutes:

also u must connect the BLACK cable of multimeter to COM connector, and RED cable to VΩA connector

multimeter help

If u feel the reading its showing is not correct, make sure u measure it keeping the resistor in surface and keep the probes at the ends.. If your hand is wet and you try to measure it keeping the resistor in your hand,u may get wrong results.. Otherwise i dont think there is any chance of getting wrong result..

Re: multimeter help

Also you normally wont get the exact same measurement as the color bands state. this is do to the tolerance rate of the resistor indicated by the last color band. Usually 5 to 10%. Though your reading should be within the tolerance rating.

Re: multimeter help

One basic first test to do when making any resistance measurements is to insure the reading is near zero when you press the probes together and that the reading is near infinite when the two probes are separated in the air.
