we know that tristates can cause an increase in delays and reduce the system speed....then,can we use any other logic in place of tristates when designing a system with a common bus like architecture as in a microprocessor so that bus contention doesn't occur??

you can use Mux

correct me if i am wrong.

yes tristates cell delay is big, but I think it just used in IO port, so it don't take big delay for Ur design.

mux is also, has big cell delay. perhaps U can use CTSMUX

so,should i limit the access to the system bus using mux in a processor....
