Hi friends,
I'm a new member and hope to be a good one and find great friends.

I was supposed to use 74241 IC as an Octal Buffer to tri-state an rs-232 connection, till I found this IC is TTL-Compatible! Do you know any other choice? If I cant find another "RS-232 COMPATIBLE BUFFER", I would have to convert my transmitting rs-232 data to TTL, then pass through 74241 buffer and convert back to rs-232 and finally connect to the reciever!!!! :cry:

I want to do this:

AVR ====> [??Buffer??]====> PC
........................|
........................|
.............Control Line

try max232 it is a ttl to rs232 driver

Thanks qaseemali , but its not what solve my problem! If you look carefully to the diagram I've drawn, you will find! If i couldn't find any, I have to use max232 to convert that rs-232 signal to TTL, pass through the Buffer [74241] and again convert back to rs232! it means 3 ICs instead of one!

I Have to find Something! anyway Thank you again for your reply,
Good Luck, Ramtin

All what you need is RS-232 transceiver for multidrop applications ..
Take a look at the MAX225 ..

or the MAX3323 ..

You may try to get free samples from Maxim-IC:

My very Best Regards from Ancient Persia,

you can use MAX232 for interfacing between AVR micro and the RS232 line
