trigger pulse generation in thyristor

pulse trigger for thyristor

friends
i am a pg student,in my project i have generated the trigger pulse for the generator .the output of the pulse transformer is 3v,but when i give it to my thyristor its not triggering.i dont know what is the problem if any one knew plz help me,its quit useful for me

thyristor pulse generator

First, make sure that the secondary winding generate positive pulses with reference to the cathode .. see picture below ..

I can't tell you much about voltage level of the pulse, but normally a pulse with length 10us with amplitude of 50mA is sufficient to turn-on thyristors ..

I only read little about thyristor. I want to know what really triggers the thyristor? Volate or current pulse? Thanks!
