can gm/id be applied to bsim3v3

Is it safe to use weak/moderate inversion based on BSIM3V3.2 models such as the models provided by TSMC? Do they mode weak/moderate inversion well enough ?

Or do we have to run a test tape out and measure the parameters?

I checked some papers about Gm/Id design methods, most of them mentioned EKV models instead of BSIM.

Please tell me, in real world IC designing, do you use Gm/Id method if all the models you can get are BSIM3V3?

Thanks!l

Re: Is it safe to use weak/moderate inversion based on BSIM3

The BSIM3 model does not support moderate and weak inversion. I don't know about TSMC models in specific, but usualy not recommended to uses BSIM3 models for simulating moderate and weak inversion as difference betwen silicon and the model can be tens percent.

I think you should contact the foundry you are working with in this issue
