Pass band gain of a low pass butterworth filter.

butterworth filter gain

Why the pass band gain of a low pass/High pass butterworth filter is 1.586?

Where did you get that value?

Filter gain depends on your circuit. In a passive filter, you'll get a 0dB gain. In an active filter, hain will depend on circuit configuration.

I got this value from Ramakanta A. gayak ward book .it is written that in a low pass first order butter worth filter Af=1.586 so Rf=0.586R1. where Rf is the feedback resistor. it is always constant. can u plz help me why this value is always constant???

I dont have the Ramakanta A. gayak ward book, so I can't answer your specific question without seeing the circuit. However, in general, you can get any gain you want at a given frequency with an active filter, assuming that the open loop gain of the op-amp is considerably higher than the desired closed loop gain.
