Hi,

There is plenty of info on google, seriously.
https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=FT232&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

The ft232 just converts USB to serial. The USB host software is available on thier sote, so it just appears as a standard 'comm' port on your PC. The connections from the ft232 to the PIC are really simple, just use the PIC's UART! Of course, you'll have to write the PC software to interpret what the data means, but that should be straightforward.

You also might want to check out https://www.ftdichip.com/

They have a 'webshop' with surprisingly good privces for ready-made USB->rs232 modules. They even have a couple of development boards with PIC16F877A and the ft232 ready made, cheap, and perfect for your application, easy prototyping.

Well, now that i've said that I'm just going to buy a few now :D
