The difference between VDD core and VDD ring

can someone tell me the difference between VDD core and VDD ring?
 

vdd ring

VDD rings supply the core, IO or analog parts of the chip. So, to answer your quesiton, A VDD ring can be a core supply, but not necessarily.

vdd ring supplies the power to the inner vdd core that are verical or horizontal.
vdd rings get the supply from the vdd pads.
