The ARM company has this homepage: https://www.arm.com where you can search and find documentation (application notes, datasheets) and other support downloads.
At this particular moment i'm unable to send you my own stuff.
PS: ARM implementations vary by company (Intel --> StrongArm (in PDAs)) etc.
Glad if i were of any help:)

bootloader arm processor

hi,

thx for your answer.
i am very interesting in i*n*t*e*l Strong*ARM and the A*R*M-C-o-r-e of A@l?t*e@r?a.

Try to find, which has the best performance.

thx

would a strong arm processor have enough power to decode divx encoed movies?

Can try ATMEL AT91 !!

For Divx decoding, please look at the latest Intel XScale series.

There is the new processor pxa250 by Intel with Xscale core and the StrongARM perifericals (400 MHz core clock).
It's the best solution for a project base on ARM.
You can use Linux on it.

ARM9 could be a good joice too but its not available so openly like 7. The problem with this is that the prices are still very high.
Even the A@L?T*E@R?A solution is very very expensive with the ARM chip.

just try an ATMEL AT91 cheaper and good product.

Bye

I recommend you to use TI OMAP chip. It is a combo of TI DSP54x + ARM9. Cheap.

arm

hai,
can u give a shematic of arm bootloader or jtag
thx

Hi all,

I studding the use of ARM processor for middle application, at affordable prices. Keen (a user of forum) talk about Samsung S3F441FX ARM7TDMI compatible (h**p://www.samsungelectronics.com/semiconductors/search/datasheet.jsp?family=399) I found for sales of 1 piece: 7 EUR/USD (Not so much, it's the same price of a 16F877, or similar and for capabilities no comments).

My problem now it's to found development tools and programming(hex download) tools for that device, some one have more experience with that device (or other similar, either in price and functionality’s)??

Hi maziar,

I have not really a specific application now.
Actually I use for my applications PIC16F870 -> PIC16F877 depending on the application needs.

Regarding on the power of ARM7TDMI, and for the same price as 16F877, some times these architecture can remove many of the my problems, like complex calculation, evolving 32 bits numbers, ...

So, if I can get a ARM device for only 7 EUR, I will forget the "little" 8 bit processors...

Hi Neurac,
Your information about samsung device is very interesting. However you may find ARM is not as efficient as PIC in memory usage. You could try running it in thumb mode which makes it a bit more efficient.

Hi junglejenny,

Maybe you are right, but we are talking of different things:
16F877 -> 368 bytes SRAM 8K Prog. FLASH 20 Mhz
S3F441 -> 8K SRAM 256K Prog. FLASH 40Mhz

The amount of available memory it's totally different ....

Where can I get one of these ( Samsung ) Arms from?
