How to connect USB to PIC

You talk about Microchip Microcontroller.

In Microchip controller 18F4550,15F4455 etc.

This controller in build USB2.0 Support module.

So u direct configure this module & use USB communication.

Take a look at www.beyondlogic.org. There is a whole list of information on USB connect with different mcu incl. PIC.

Or, you may try 18Fxx5x series with USB transceiver built-in a PIC.

microcontroller with connect usb

Result of 18LF4550 interface with USB, is a USB mouse, USB Mass Storage device, plus USB interface with the PICDEM Windows software.

Below is a screen shoot of the USB Mass Storage Device AN1003, file open, delete, view, close for jpeg, bmp, txt, Win Word etc all work fine.

Running the chip a little bit off spec seems OK as I am running at 3.3V at 20MHz.

So, just look at the firmware available from Microchip. They all work alright from an actual testing result.
