Which 8 bit encoder/decoder I can use?

8-bit encoder/decoder

I have a RF TX/RX module (433MHz, ASK, digital). I want to use encoder and decoder in the circuit. I want to ask which encoder/decoder is easy to use(no need to programming) and 8 bit(input data/output data).

I would use PICAXE .. cheap, easy to program and gives you a lot of flexibility ..
