How to send data thro' Microcontroller to a GSM Modem

Dear Sir,

I have a project which needs to control a system(which is having GSM Modem) thro microcontroller remotely.I have decided to use microcontroller with GSM modem connected to it.GSM modem will be interfaced to my MCU thro UART.Now for example if send at commands say, ATD<oter gsm no> ......how to code them in program. Can anybody give any titorial or example. Pls help
