Hi all,
Can anyone explain for me Why and When we call a transistor is an active load?
What is different between active and passive load? and What about pull up (or pull down) acitive load ?
Thank you very much!!

Re: active load

A diode connected MOS load is called active load.

Regarding pull up and pull down acitive loads, I guess they are respectively PMOS and NMOS active/diode connected loads.

Re: active load

passive load are load like resistor and diode connected transistor are active load

Re: active load

Thank you
But What is different between active and passive load? What is benefit, if we use active load? and What are difficulties if we use active load?
Thank you very much!!

active load

the main benefit from using the active load is that u can get high impedence and at the same time low drop on te MOS , while in resistive load u have V=IR so if R is large then V is large.

active load

Actually, diode connected mos cannot give u large R in small signal model.
mos that can be taken as a equivalent resistor only in small signal model is called active load.
