Hi

What is the signal bandwidth of a CDMA signal after spreading, also for WCDMA. There has to be a standard. I know CDMA uses a 1.25MHz channel and then spreads it, but to what? and WCDMA uses a 5 MHz channel and then spreads it.

Any help?

For example in WCDMA, they use spreading codes such that a frame of 10ms contain 38400 chips, or 3.84 Mchips/s. they use raise cosine filter with roll off factor .22:

Hence the total bandwidth used is data rate R*1.22=3.84*1.22=4.6848MHz; hence in 5 MHZ band rest is the gaurd band.

well WCDMA use 5MHz band...and signal bandwidth is also little less than 5 MHz and rest is guard band, same iwth CDMA,.... so in these schemes signals uses complete channel bandwidth...and difference is in the coding
