Why is the mobility of the electrons is greater than holes?

How is that the mobility of the electrons is greater than that of the holes? Holes basically arise due displacement of electrons right?

the problem is that when u say holes u mean electrons in valece band while when u say electrons u mean electrons in conduction band , this implies that "holes" mobility is lower than "electrons" mobility

Mobility has an inverse relationship to the charge's effective mass. Since electrons have a lower effective mass than holes, its mobility will be higher.

Yes, sorry, correction:
Holes have a higher effective mass than the electrons, so the electron's mobility is higher!!

higher eff. mass is lower mobility (i.e. heay bodies move slower than lighter ones)

hole movement is usually characterised by jumping of an electron bound to an atom to an adjacent vacant space, resulting in a vacant space in the original location of the electron. this vacant spot is the hole, which drifts slowly jumping between adjacent slots only, whereas a free electron, as the name suggests, drifts freely and moves faster. so we say holes have less mobility
