OrCAD does not run on Linux.
MATLAB does run Linux and Unix. They have seperate CD sets for those though.

Wine lets you run some Windows software on Linux. But it is difficutl to get working for large applications like OrCAD.

Re: newbie to linux

can u give me the link to the software u mentioned

Re: newbie to linux

It is possible to run MATLAB in LINUX. I have been using MATLAB 6.1 in LINUX for almost an year or so. Your MATLAB CD may have the LINUX binaries removed. The one with LINUX binaries are available on internet (try Bittorrent).

OrCAD is an excellent software in windows. But there is no LINUX version are available yet.

Check this out
http://www.bittorrent.com/
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
http://thepiratebay.org/search.php?q=matlab

Binary means compiled code files. ie: most of the programs we run in Windows are in binary form.
MatLab is not free of cost. It costs lakhs.
The ordinary setup files are examples of binary files.

When downloading programs through Bittorrent use it in your own risk.
