Capacitor type

Where can I find the character of ceramic, film & tantlum capacitor ?
What's the purpose, advantage & disadvantage in RF area.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Capacitor type

In "modern" Rf electronics, virtually everything is a surface mount component. So you have the following types to use:

1) Multilayer ceramic--upper frequency is dictated by the internal geometry and ceramic dielectric constant. Can work at 10 GHz, but some can be trouble at 3 GHz.
2) Single layer microwave ceramic--can work very high in frequency
3 Tantalum--strictly lower frequency(<100 MHz), but have very low series resistance at MHz frequencies compared to the older electrolytics (which are seldom used anymore). Great for high speed op amp or digital circuit bypassing, especially when paralleled with a 1000 pF ceramic!
