Question abt AM

hi,

In AM modulation what happens when the modulation index \[\mu =\infty\]? and when is it posssible or is it ever possible?

thnx

Re: Question abt AM

It can never happen, unless you have sufficiently large modulating signal that will be added to the carrier. Also usually the signal will saturate at the AF amplifier and the information from the receiver will never be recovered.

Question abt AM

leads to 'overmodulation'(AM wave will oftenly have zero value)..recoveryof mesage signal from that is indeed a daunting task...

Added after 44 seconds:

In FM it is allowed.

Re: Question abt AM

modulation index of infinite means that u have to modulate the carrier with a signal of infinite amplitude.
We dont have a signal of infinite amplitude in practice.
hence it is impossible.

Re: Question abt AM

it is imposible in the practical way, coz u cant modulate infinite amplitude signal in to a carrier

Re: Question abt AM

and how you generate high amplitude modulator? you must consider about saturation which is caused calmping signal by modulator circutry
