whats the difference between fourier transform and fourier seies

fourier tansform is for non periodic signals and fourier series is for periodic ones

the best book is "signals and systms" written by OPPENHEIM,WILLSKY,NAWAB.....

hi all,
Fourier series is used to represent a signal in terms of sine and cos,i.e, it gives the hormonic details. And the fourier transform is one which gives the frequency Vs Magnitude spectrum of the signal. i.e the amplitude of the signal in particular frequency.
