Hi all ,

i want to make a project with GPS module , now i want to know how should i communicate the module with MCU ( 8051-MCS or AVR )

do these modules use ATcommands ?
i have heard something NMEA interface , what is it , is it some protocol like ATcommands ... ?

and if i buy a module ,can i esialy get the position from GPS ( i mean in numbers , degree, ... ) or i need some codes to decode data ???

Thanks ,
& best Regards .

Yes, GPS support Nmea 0183, if you search it in google you will find everything.

Normally: 4800bps, it is really ease to make this interface, with avr or with 8051.
