Which one is preferred in FSM design ? Mealy or Moore? Why?

No preference. Depends upon the application. But there is some particular way in which a FSM should be written.

It really depends on what you want to implement. Both have good points about them and it is really up to the application as to which one you choose. What application did you have in mind?

u said depend upon the application FSM are selected (moore r mealy).

Can you give example (application) for moore type and mealy type

we can mealy and moore according to our convince
but moore takes some more number of gates while compared to mealy.
