pc oscilloscope project

i am doing a Digital PC oscilloscope Project using TCP/IP for transmittion

Requirements:
high speed,high bandwdith....

Anyone can help me!
What components are needed?
ADC,MCU?????

Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi,
It sounds interesting, is this a school project?

What you need (in my opinion) is the following:
MCU : for TCP/IP communication, MMC etc.
ADC : as fast as you want your data to be captured
RAM : A LOT, depending on your sampling frequency and ADC resolution
LOGIC: To control the direciton of data, bank switching (if you want more data path) etc.
SW : both for the MCU and for your PC of display unit.

Good luck,

You can go to

for some starting points.... they maybe talking about a PC based oscilloscope, but the concepts I think can be applied to digital oscilloscopes as well. Also I recommend an ebook "Art and Science of Analog Design by JIm Williams" it contains oscilloscope-related concepts and circuits. YOu can find it at the ebooks upload/download section.

I have one that uses the computer parallel port, tell me if you want it.

we want it!!! I am currently working on an oscilloscope myself and I need all the materials I can get.

Hello!

If you want to do that, you should consider doing something REALLY useful.
I mean: if you do something with a passband of 5 kHz, nobody can use it.
Just for your info, there are devices combining ADC / memory and doing
a really good acquisition unit. Some devices have a sampling rate of 1.2 GWord
per second (I know this value because I had a look at what exists precisely
this afternoon). 1.2 Gsample/second, and with a memory representing several
times the width of the screen.

With that kind of sampler, and if you count a minimum of 5 samples per
period, you can make a scope with a passband of 250 MHz.

Dora.
