What's the meaning of a concurrent system?

concurrent word means that you have more than one thing working at the same time .. a simple example is a communication system Transmitter .. while the transmitter filter is filter some signals, the modulator is modulating some others .. and maybe the encoder is encoding some others .. and so on ..
Things are working at the same time .. something like parallalization .. you can have 10 multipliers on one chip all working at the same time .. not one is waiting for the other to be done with all processing then it itself start his role ..
