The hiss (short) comes out periodically and the battery gets kinda warm comparing to the other 3 cells. Is it a bad thing?

Any visual or audio effect(s) while charging a bettery are bad signs ..
Try to investigate what causes these hisses and if you are unsure stop using this battery and replace it with a new one.
The last thing you want to experience is exposure to acid ..

I did some googling and it saids lead acid produces Hydrogen gas while charging. I guess the hissing is hydrogen gas venting?

Is it a sealed Lead Acid Batt you are talking about?

As with any battery, it will give off some gas and heat when undergo charging process. It's normal.

But... if it's a sealed Lead Acid Batt, and it's giving out hissing sound, suggest that there might be a leak somewhere. visual check and monitor the voltage.

Safety First!

If one cells getting warmer than the rest it is probably water vapour (steam) venting. If you can open the cell lid, check the liquid level and adjust with distilled water. Try to charge again, the temperature should not rise above the other cells if all is well.

The cell tha make the hiss noise has a problem, this is clear since there is a temperature difference with the rest of the cells of the battery.
Check whether you overcharge the battery.
If it is a sealed lead acid, there must be a problem. If it is a lead acid that you can add water and acid, check the acid's density. You may need to add some water.
