hello nebisman

sorry, but I can´t answer to your problem, but perhaps you can help me.
I`ve got yesterday a 2642a in working condition.
The problem:
I have no idea how to connect this unit to the pc.
Wich interface I must use?
Do I need any software for working with the analyzer?
Do you have software wich you can copy for me?
Naturally I want to pay for your time and effort.
Is there any another software on the market I can use?

in hope to get a positive answer

best regards

Mike

PS:excuse me please for my bad english

Would you guys like a scanned PDF of the four-page product description from the Tek 1993 catalog? About 1.8 megabytes.
**broken link removed**

Here are some possibly helpful words from that catalog:

MINIMUM PC REQUIREMENTS
Fourier Analyzers operate with an IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2 or 100%
compatible having the following minimum configuration: DOS 3.0 or
higher, RAM - 640 kilobytes. One 3.5 or 5.25 in. floppy drive and
20 megabyte Hard Drive, One RS-232-C serial port, Intel 8087,
80287, or 80387 Co-processor, Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA),
Monochrome or color EGA monitor (Second serial port and mouse
recommended).

A serial port?

Dear friend,

I help you with this point,
yes you need a proprietary software which I send you later. Also you need a cable and serial port with non standar wiring. I'll send you all the info, but you should wait me because I don't have it here.

hello nebisman,

Today I have unzip and install the software. But I can´t make a connection to the
analyzer via RS232.On the rearsite on the analyzer are two connectors.A RS232 connector and a
"interconnection" connector.Witch connector I must use

I don´t have the nonstandard cable .I don´t know how to connect the pins.
could you tell me something about the connection.
see you later
a very happy mike

be patient , I send you this later, I have to get the manual but I'll send you this info.

I know I'm restarting a dead thread here, but this is about the only information I've been able to find about these old fourier analyzers. Tektronix's web site has not been very forthcoming with information, and neither has the rest of the internet thus far. I know I can get the software from this forum, but does anybody know where I can find the pin out for the serial port on the back of this machine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one of these analysers i got from ebay coming in the mail.
I have the software working under dosemu in ubuntu 7.10.
Will try to work out the serial cable details when I have it all set up.
Maybe it isn't a special serial cable after all, it might just need a 25 - 9 pin adapter. Will post back when i know more.

Ok, the cable is as follows:

Tek 2642A - PC
3---5
4----5
5---3
6---2

The cts / rts lines do not seem to be needed, I have tried connecting them but they make no difference. The pinout of the Tek 2642A is as follows:

Tek 2642A DB9 Female:
1 . +CTS
2. -CTS
3. GND
4. +RX
5. -RX
6. TX (RS423 / RS232)
7. RTS (RS423 / RS232)
8. +TX (RS422)
9. -TX (RS422)

The CTS & RX lines are designed to accept RS 232 / 422 / 423 input. I guess tek did this so you could use a longer serial cable if your computer was a long way from the box.

As for software, it works for me on an old 486 laptop with Win 3.11 and PCDOS 6.2. I get screen refreshes about twice a second. I can't get it to work very well on either dosemu or dosbox under Ubuntu 7.10.
Maybe FreeDOS will work, that is what I will try next.

Is there any place where I can find software v. 2.26 o 2.27 for this analyzer?

Thanks in advance.
