What happens if we give 5v to a 2v standard cell ?
 

You want to check two points:
- the maximum voltage ratings of 2V transistors
- the transverse current versus input voltage of a basic CMOS inverter cell at 5V Vdd

I guess you get double confirmation of ThisIsNotSam's assumption.
