hello every one

why mosfet is less switching losses and more conduction losses..
and why Bjt is more switching losses

any one can explain

Re: why mosfet is less switching losses and more conduction losses..

MOSFET basically has faster switching time than BJT,thus, less switching loss. A mosfet can have extremely low conduction loss.

BJTs need a Baker clamp to make them switch quickly.
As Barry said, the "overlap" time of current and voltage at the swithcing transition, can be much less for a mosfet. That isnt to say that there arent some special BJTs that can have special drive circuits to make them almost comparable....but its more hassle.
