Hi all,

I am studing LAN9252 for my next project. I need connect a PIC MCU with an industrial PLC. The PIC needs send to a PLC 80 bytes each 20ms.
In LAN9252 datasheet I found the information about FIFO: the buffers for data send and received. So, I only can comunicate 32 bytes (32 input + 32 output) each time?

Thank you!

You need to consider what's the structure of PLC data and how should it be represented in EtherCAT data space. It's basically possible to multiplex 80 Byte into a 32 Byte window, but a higher update rate is required in return.

Hm... ok. But, the LAN9252 only can send 32 bytes? in other words, in XML file (file for PLC configure device in network) I can define more bytes than 32?

Thank you.

Are you asking about ESI files? No, the LAN9252 EtherCAT process image is limited to 32 Byte input and output PDO size.

Ok, thank you. Another question: there is other IC Slave Controller (like the LAN9252) but with larger PDO size? I searched in some manufacturers but nothing... Thank you
