Reduce the power consumption in SD card

Hi, I am using micro SD card with MSP430G2553 microcontroller, to log values every 16 minute then goes to sleep mode. I am using 1000 mAh battery, and it is lasting for a week. Is there any way power consumption can be reduced without changing schematic. SD card is continuously consuming power.

I'm not familiar with that processor but SD cards in idle state draw little current and being non-volatile you can cut the power when they are not in use. Maybe you can power the card from an IO pin and drive it low before sleep mode. Also make sure the other pins with pull-down resistors are not high during sleep or they will sink current.
