can rx and tx pins of xbee module can be directly connected to txd and rxd pins of microcontroller.i am using xbee s2c module and at89s52.

The Xbee module is supplied with 3.3v, so at first sight you should add a level converter to interface the at89s52, which is supplies with 5v. However, for most cases a simple resistos divisor arrangement pretty suffice.

Hi,

As a general rule:
All information is given in the datasheets.
For IOs:
* absolute maximum ratings of IO.
* VIL,
* VIH,
* VOL
* VOH

I think no person can have all those values for all devices in mind, therefore it is necessary to read the datasheets.
