Mistake in programming and burning pin

Hello to all friends


I wanted read the AVR pin But according to programming mistakes i set pins the output ground and micro pin damaged

Notice in the image below

But for the wrong reasons PINC.0 is output and GND


My question is: How can I protect pins using the hardware ?

You could put current-limiting resistors on the pin, but that probably won't be suitable for all cases.
