I work in a small company; we have had auditors from different locations for more than a week now. I would just like to know why companies have audits. Are they doing this for themselves or investors?

Audits are done for several reasons, but I would guess the most common as :
  • Quality/Performance assesments
  • Regulatory certifications (ex: ISO9001, ISO14000, etc ...)
  • Annual balance sheet for company headquarters/partners
  • Restructuring process (acquisition, merging, etc ...)
