Hello all,

If I have a standard cell library, can I use it to make a custom design out of these cells in Virtuoso/Custom Designer or I need the PDK ?
or generally, if I want to do either vlsi or custom design using the only standard cells...why would I need a PDK ?

Thanks

I don't think you understand what a PDK is.

I don't think you understand what a PDK is.
Thank you for your respectful comment....What I understand about PDK is that it contains technology data, the base devices, DRC and LVS decks, model files. However, the standard cell library already has symbol view, hspice model and gds for each cell. so if my intention is to do a custom circuit with these std cells, would I need to have the PDK ?

Please tell me how you are even going to start virtuoso without a PDK.
Spice models are useless if you don't have the transistors models... which are part of the PDK. You won't even haven a layer map, you won't be able to tell what a transistor is just from a GDS.
