I am just including the links for the benefits of the members who
want to know the history of IoT and what is IoT?

History and who started it:
https://www.howtoflyahorse.com/beginning-the-internet-of-things/

some brief notes on IoT:
https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en_us/solutions/trends/iot/introduction_to_IoT_november.pdf

hope that helps for the members interested.

According to Wikipedia: The term "Internet of Things" was coined by Peter T. Lewis in a 1985 speech given at a U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) supported wireless session at the Congressional Black Caucus 15th Legislative Weekend Conference. In his speech he states that "The Internet of Things, or IoT, is the integration of people, processes and technology with connectable devices and sensors to enable remote monitoring, status, manipulation and evaluation of trends of such devices." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_of_things

Internet of Things or simply IoT is an evolution in technology itself. This particular technology provides a platform for any electronic devices or appliances to remotely connect and save the data in the server. As it uses cloud to store the data, the user can get notification related to almost everything even at the other end of the world (may be even at Mars :p).
Due to recent technological advancements, it is evident that the future products will be functional only through the data they acquire from the cloud. Such is the important of this advancing technology.
