can someone please help me with the evolution of concatenated codes from convolutional/algebraic through convolutional/convolutional with permutation and hard decision on the outer code to the development of the SOVA algorithm.
with references please

Why are LDPC and Turbo codes mainly used in todays communications standards. Argue that the best known codes are algebraic and justify why they are not used instead. (references)

Because LDPC and turbo codes provide Eb/No ratio that the most closest for Shannon limit.
