I need high speed communication from the PC to a custom FPGA board. I already tried USB2 chips in USB-TO-FIFO mode. But I want a faster chip. So I thought of using USB3 protocol.

Which chip can I use?
I don't want to use FTDI chips now and I think Cypress is a good choice. Cypress provides FX3 chips which are compatible with USB3. Is FX3 good enough?

I also need to know if the chip will be easily connected to the FPGA.

Thanks.

Knowing Cypress FX2 USB FIFO devices, I would expect good results from FX3. Cypress is very flexible in defining optimal handshake e.g. to FPGA, a drawback is a certain firmware design overhead required to operate the chips. But once you manage it, they have great features.
