what is the difference between linear and non linear simulation? please describe.

Linear simulation is taken impedence as a constant or some 1 order function of time. for example S parameter simulation.
nonlinear simulation is 2 order or higher order of time as impedence.

Normally, the linear simulatin is small signal simulation and the nolinear simulation is large signal simulation.
The small signal simulation always employ the S parameter calculation but the large signal simulation always use the harmonic balance method.
