Thank you for the helpful schematics, I definitely need to research more into it.

I also came across some material about another type of amplifier which seems to do the job. Are you familiar with "complementary symmetry push-pull" amplifiers? It seems it would allow me to amplify the signal using a NPN and PNP transistor to reproduce the positive and negative parts of the cycle. Just from a quick observation that type of amplifier seems a lot easier to construct than the one you propose, I could be wrong though.
