how can i find information about my infrared transmitter? and how can i understand diferent between there? by number?or size?

hello
i mean a diod infrared transmitter which use for example in TV remote control or video reote controll or in alarm systems.
excuse me i cant speak english vert well.

This is an example datasheet for IR led.

If you are looking for a starting project for IR remote control any localy available IR led will do. Or you can hack a cheap TV remote.
