when u can use a TV tuner card to plug in ur Cable wires to the monitor to view the channles on the monitor, i think it should be capable. u could do one thing. use the VCD player to get the o/p thro a wire in accord to the cable wire(ususally contains wire to be connected to the television).. i mean.... instead connecting to the television u coudl ty on the monitor. nevertheless, a monitor could definitely play... the thing is.. treg. the connection.. would clarify on this furthur after i get more materials..! :)

Hi,
You cannot directly connect a PC monitor to a complex video signal source. A PC monitor is not designed for this. The complex video signal displayed by a TV includes all the elements required to display an image (luminance and chrominance signals), at a resolution of 768x576 pixels (for PAL and SECAM standards). The horizontal scanning frequency is 15.625 Hz and the vertical is 50Hz, and the display format is interlaced. A PC monitor will work only from 31Khz scanning freqency and up, depending on the resolution and the vertical refresh rate. Further, at a PC monitor, the video signals are transmitted separately for each primary color (Red, Green and Blue). In order to convert the CVBS (video complex) signal for a ready-to-display signal onto a PC monitor, you will have to decode it in order to extract the R,G and B componets, convert them to digital, store them in a framebuffer memory and read them back at a higher rate, suitable for a PC monitor, then convert them back in analog format. Easy.
