A very basic question:

what are the registers settings required to enable internal clock of AT89C5131?

is it just defining FOSC with the clock speed ?
kindly rep asap ...

According to datasheet, there's no internal clock feature provided with AT89C5131.

but on 1st page it is mentioned that : 0-32MHz on chip oscillator is there ...

Why don't you read the data sheet completely? It clarifies that a crystal or ceramic resonator has to be connected to XTAL1/XTAL2 pins to use the on-chip oscillator.

I agree that the different terminology used by µC vendors can be confusing, e.g. "internal oscillator" of Microchip PIC (a RC oscillator working on its own) versus "on-chip oscillator". In case of doubt you to read the datasheets thoroughly.
