how to use pic16f628a icd

Hai,
Anybody noticed any difference or problem in configuring LP mode?
32Khs osc is not working, CKT works in internal osc mode but when changes to LP or XT or HS with my 32KHZ crystal nothing happens. When osc pins are touched just starting ,again dead,Tried different caps from 22 to 100 pf, Any clue?

I have configured it and tried in internal oscillator mode. ICD is successfull in programming and verifying the chip. The programme is running also.
But ICD cannot function in debug mode.
device ID expected is0x89 but read is 0x83.
chip selected is 16F628A and the board is also having the same
Is there any chance that for this particular chip ICD supports only programming not debugging? ( No message like that from MPLAB!!)

Chip is in internal oscillator mode. It is working when ICD is used as a programmer. 16F628A is the target.

Help.

Some crystal may require a limiting resistor in serial with one of the pin in XL. Is this R not exist, you're running the risk to spoil the crystal. Check the datasheet of the crystal that you're using.

Hai,
Problem "solved"!!
MPLAB ICD support for 16F628A is only for programming, no debugging.
Special header is required for debugging that chip.
But 32762hz watch xtal is still not working!!

I have used many 16F628 (without A) with a 32KHz Xtal with 2 x 22 pF in LP mode without problems.

Did you try using another PIC or another Xtal?

Works only in LP mode otherwise no oscillation. You should also be careful when checking for oscillation with a scope only check on OSC2 not on OSC1 or oscillation will stop ...

best regards
