phone line interface

Hi

I need to interface a microcontroller to my phone line via a DTMF(touch tones) decoder. Does anybody have a schematic for this interface? and does anybody know of a suitable IC to decode DTMF tones?

Thanks
Nick

Re: phone line interface

There are several things to keep in mind when connecting to the telephone line.

1. There are legal issues to comply with. These are usually published with the complete set of government regulations.

2. There are some high voltages on the line such as ringing and on/off hook. Your circuit will have to survive their presence.
