How to check a LCD?

I got a feeling that I accidentally fried my 2x16 LCD which is on my Millenium development board. I replaced it with another Truly 2x16 LCD and it works so I think it's really gone. However, I would still like to know a way in which I can check if the LCD is really gone. Does anyone know how to check it?
