What is the difference between AT89s51 and AT89c2051 chips?

89s .. has ISP interface for programming.
89c .. not compatible for ISP interface but needs parallel programming.

For AT89S51 It can be programmed in circuit and it has 4KB program flash memory.

AT89C2051 has 2KB flash memory only.

I suggest to use AT89S51.

89c2051 is a 20 pin micro

89s51 is 40 pin micro

both have different pin configuration
to use the 89s51 micro in u r project u have to modify the code according the to 40 pin micro
if u do not get the 89c2051 micro u can use 89s2051/4051 OR 89c4051 also
 

if your application requires a analog interfacing, then go for 89c2051 as it has an inbuilt analog comparator
 

89s51 is 40 pin chip, having port1, port2, port3 and port0 and allows ISP (in system programming). check the link below for ISP.


89c2051 is 20 pin chip, having only two ports P0 and P3. check the difference from the immage below:
