Hello,

What is the typical protections in the RS485 lines?

The device SMBJ6.5CA from Vishay is a is apropiated? Or I need other "STAND-OFF VOLTAGE"?

The datasheet: https://www.vishay.com/doc?88392

Thanks!

In the specs of the MAX485, I can read that the Common-Mode Input Voltage Range is -7V to +12V.
It means that I need one unidirectional TVS with a breakdown voltage >12V and other TVS with a breakdown voltage > 7v?
One SMBJ12 and SMBJ7.0 is the best option?

Hi, look for the SM712. It's designed for RS485-protection.
greetings
