This is description of transformer winding. Core could comes from old broken transformer. Good ratio isbout 200:1 if you want to get 2,400V from 12V. Additional elements that you may need is some part of PCV pipe. You can reshape it by the heat air. Wire gauage is #18SWG while internal #325WG. Of course drill will be unnecessary.
. Wind primary winding on the secondary winding at the top of the core, and primary at the bottom.
When winding a high voltage transformer like 250A you must beware when putting wires. Making secondary winding you must avoid of putting wires one above another. Better is to put in parallel, because otherwise length of wires will increase that couse bigger difference in resistance.
Best way to get elements are used one, but you can also try to get new. For example at dexter magnetics ( but minimum order is 50$)They can support you with ferrites from fair- rite, Philips, magnetics …but they don’t have any wires. I f you are a beginner it is good advise for you to order some spare parts.
For high power and high frequency you should choose Fair-Rite E-core with 77 material. In case you want DC output, remember about special diodes.
If talk about knowledge, you should know AL values.
Some examples of a transformers you can find at magazines like this **broken link removed**
Or simple example at youtube https://youtube.com/watch?v=6lvm3FGTHSI
