i got a dell vostro 1000 and there is a password on the bios and the hdd all of a sudden..i pulled out cmos battery and waited...a long time (hours)..that did nothing..
i can't seem to find the reset pins...does anyone know of a better way or location of reset on motherboard?

check whether you get what you want
when both cmos and laptop batteries are removed.

no...its a vostro 1000..
i don't know where its still getting power if cmos battery is out

though the model no is different i suggested whether you have the
same arrangement in your laptop . if so you you can try.

as indicated if there is an eeprom even removing battery will not be effective .

so the suggestion is find what is the type number of eeprom in your laptop.
we shall see whether it is possible?
